Nintendo hosted its Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase and remakes are grabbing gamers' attention.
The Nintendo Direct Partners Showcase announced games that will release for the Nintendo Switch in the first half of 2024.
Some people hoped to hear announcements regarding the second version of the gaming console, which according to Eurogamer, is set to be released in the first quarter of 2025, but Nintendo did not deliver on that. Instead, the showcase focused on third-party games, games that were created by studios outside of Nintendo.
The showcase follows Play Station's State of Play and XBOX's Developer Direct.
Nintendo fans had a lot of news being thrown at them this week, including one from Netflix announcing that the production of a new season of Pokémon Concierge started.
Here's a look at three of the games announced at the showcase.
Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed
Nintendo announced early in the showcase a remake of the 2010 game. The game is a action-adventure platform video game, where players guide Mickey through the Wasteland, which is home to all of Disney's "forgotten and rejected" creations, including Oswald the Rabbit.
The game originally came out for the Wii. Its sequel, Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two, was released for the Wii U, but didn't receive stellar ratings.
According to a press release, the game was developed by Purple Lamp in collaboration with Disney Games. Warren Spector, director of the original Disney Epic Mickey, assisted the development team.
Nintendo and Disney have not announced a specific date yet. It isn't available in the online Nintendo Store in the U.S., but it is showing on its U.K. website.
Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed release date: 2024
Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection
According to IGN, Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection will be a bundle of two games with new maps, like Jabba's Palace, and new characters Kit Fisto and Asajj Ventress.
The game was announced during Nintendo direct. Aspyr Media, the game's publisher, released a trailer shortly after.
The game will be available on PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Series, and PC via Steam.
Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection release date: March 14, 2024
Mother 3
Mother 3 is coming to the Nintendo Switch Online, too.
How can you get Mother 3? Well you can't.
According to Polygon, the Game Boy Advance game will be made available to Nintendo Switch owners in Japan.
Fans of the Earthbound game in the U.S. will, unfortunately, not be able to access the latest update to console's latest addition of retro games.
Mother 3 is available on Nintendo Switch Online in Japan, but no word regarding whether it will be made available in the U.S.
